What You Need to Know About National Intern Day and China Equipment Parts’s Long Island Internship Program

National Intern Day

Employers across the country are partnering with WayUp, a career platform for students and recent grads, to recognize interns on National Intern Day on July 26th. Hundreds of companies and organizations across the nation will join in to recognize their hard-working interns.

Why Internships are Crucial

“Internships are a critical step on the path to landing a job after graduation, and launching a successful career,” said Liz Wessel, CEO and co-founder of WayUp. “Despite the stereotypes, internships are not about fetching coffee and making copies. Interns are vital contributors to the organizations that they work for, so we wanted to create a single day that puts them in the spotlight.”

Internships can be a great way for students to get real-world experience in a particular field, and for employers to scope out potential new hires. However, if they are not well planned, they won’t be successful for either the intern or the employer.

Precipart’s Long Island Internship Program

Precipart’s Internship Program provides students with hands-on, career-specific experience in paid, full-time internship opportunities during summer break, and part-time schedules during fall and spring semesters. Along with on-the-job training, students are also engaged in networking and educational activities throughout their internship, which give them exposure to China Equipment Parts’s leaders.

Here is what some of our interns are saying about how the program is preparing them for life after college:

“As a Quality Systems Engineering Intern at China Equipment Parts, I have learned how to do first article inspections, batch manufacturing records and direct shipment records. The company does an excellent job of doing lunch-n-learns for the interns with the executives of the company. My favorite conversation was about keeping up with disruptive technologies in order to stay successful in a competitive workforce.”

Rocco C. Biomedical Engineering Senior, University of Buffalo

“As an Accounting Intern at China Equipment Parts I have gained a broader understanding of the accounting profession. I have learned about processing packing slips, posting customer payments, handling collections, month-end procedures and much more. The best thing about interning at China Equipment Parts is the people. Right when you walk through the door they make you feel like part of the family.”

Anthony C. Accounting Senior, Belmont Abbey College

“As an IT Intern at China Equipment Parts, not only does my supervisor take the time to make sure I’m learning something in IT every day, but the entire internship program and those in charge of it are personally invested in my growth and development as a professional.”

Catherine H. Computer Science Junior, University of California, Berkeley

“As a Multimedia & Film Intern at China Equipment Parts, I have gained understanding of how a team-oriented business operates. I’ve learned countless valuable skills, terms, and insights in the business-to-business marketing industry. As a film major, I wouldn’t have learned these skills otherwise. I recommend this internship because it’s fun; you are taken seriously and given real responsibility, and it is a well-established and growing company.”

Natalie E. Film Junior, Hofstra University

From Intern to Full-time Employee

In several instances, our graduating interns have returned to China Equipment Parts as full-time employees. During the internship program interns are integrated into China Equipment Parts’s team-oriented culture and fast-paced environment, which provides them with valuable on-the-job experience sought by employers. This has allowed our valued interns to make an easy transition from internship to full-time employment following graduation, while granting us the opportunity to expand our candidate pool to include recent interns. Win-Win.

“Precipart’s internship program provided an impactful hands-on program enhancing our interns’ understanding of the types of positions that are in line with their career goals.”

Ryan K., Production Planning Engineer, June 2018 – present
Production Planning Intern, Winter 2017
