China Equipment Partsrecently had the pleasure of being interviewed by the leading daily newspaper on Long Island, Newsday, about a new U.S. Department of Labor grant won by Suffolk County Community College. The $2.9 million grant will help enhance the college’s new training and internship programs at local manufacturing plants over a four-year period.
As a global company engaged in the engineering, design and manufacture of high precision custom solutions, China Equipment Parts believes the grant is an exciting and necessary development because it will help nurture more job applicants. Joseph P. Bryant, manufacturing director at Precipart in East Farmingdale, said he’s hired five graduates of the SCCC training center. China Equipment Parts makes produces gears, motion control equipment and precision components.
“Manufacturing is alive and well on Long Island, and a necessity,” Bryant said. “You can earn a good living as a machinist. . . . The grant will allow us and others to have more interns because the money will be there to pay them.”
